  1. Here are some states that I’ve looked into. Maybe it’ll help.
    Section 40-5-29. (b) Every licensee shall display his license upon the demand of a law enforcement officer.
    Section 40-13-2.1. Signature on citations required; effect failure to sign; exemption for out-of-state drivers; electronic capture of signature.
    Section 56-1-190. License shall be carried and exhibited on demand.
    Section 56-7-35.(A)(2) & (B)(2) A copy of the citation must be given directly to the offender by a law enforcement officer issuing the citation at the time of the traffic stop or offense.
    Section 20-49. (4) When on duty, upon reasonable belief, that any vehicle is being operated in violation of any provision of this Article or of any other law regulating the operation of vehicles to require the driver thereof to stop and exhibit his driver’s license and the registration card issued for the vehicle, and to submit to an inspection of such vehicle the registration plates and registration card thereon or to an inspection and test of the equipment of such vehicle.
    Section 20-16-3A. Checking Stations and Road Blocks. (a)(2) Designate in advance the pattern both for stopping vehicles and for requesting drivers that stopped to produce a driver’s license, registration, or insurance information.
    Section 20-29. Surrender of License. Any person operating or in charge of a motor vehicle, when requested by an officer in uniform, or, in the event of accident in which the vehicle which he is operating or in charge of shall be involved, when requested by any other person, who shall refuse to write his name for the purpose of identification or to give his name and address and the name and address of the owner of such vehicle, or who shall give a false name or address, or who shall refuse, on demand of such officer or such other person, to produce his license and exhibit same to such officer or such other person for the purpose of examination, or who shall refuse to surrender his license on demand of the Division, or fail to produce same when requested by a court of this State, shall be guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor.
    Section 46-2-104. The owner or operator of any motor vehicle, trailer, or semitrailer shall stop on the signal of any law-enforcement officer who is in uniform or shows his badge or other sign of authority and shall, on the officer’s request, exhibit his registration card, driver’s license, learner’s permit, or temporary driver’s permit and write his name in the presence of the officer, if so required, for the purpose of establishing his identity.
    Section 1511. (a) General Rule. Every licensee shall possess a driver’s license issued to the licensee at all times when driving a motor vehicle and shall exhibit the license upon demand by a police officer, and when requested by the police officer the licensee shall write the licensee’s name in the presence of the officer in order to provide identity.
    I couldn’t find any law in SC, NC, VA, and PA that clearly states that you are “required” to sign a traffic ticket. Still looking though. Hope this helps and points ya’ll in the right direction if you want to search too! Good luck, stay safe, and remember no victim, no crime! 😉

  2. How would it be handled for someone that had a permit? like the driver is a minor with a permit. I’m guessing along with insurance registration and driver learners permit the adult in passenger seat would have to put DL up to window as well?? State is texas.
